Great solution

I bought my unit two weeks ago and am really happy with it.  It does a fine job of humidifying, looks good, and is easy to use.  Noise isn't a problem.

Just Fine

We have had a couple of different humidifiers and this one is just fine.  Yes, you can hear the fan but it is very quiet compared to our old unit.  If you keep it close to full you don't hear water noise at all.  We are very satisfied with our purchase from Wal-mart.

HCM-750

I have read all of the reviews and all have relevant points. I too had to get used to the light in the bedroom as I like total darkness to sleep, but I made the adjustment and it is not an issue any more. It is a little noisy at times (especially when low on water), but I like background noise when I sleep. Quiet can be deafening so I usually have a fan running anyway. I just got the unit out for its second season a couple weeks ago and I had the issue others have raised about the pump not flowing water over the filters. At first it could be rectified by shutting it down and "banging" the unit on its stand to get it running again, but later on that would not work anymore. I took the pump out and ran HOT tap water thru it (the large inlet side not the outlet where the hose attachs) for about a minute or so and reinstalled it. That seemed to clear up the problem. I suspect that minerals in the tap water caused scale to "gum" up the impellar shaft and prevented it from turning freely and pushing the water thru. The HOT water dissolved the scale and loosened it up so it works again. I suggest to those who experience this issue to try doing what I did. Otherwise, I have been happy with the unit as it does a good job of humidifying and it's easy to fill.

pretty good

Just unwrapped this from the box. You can hear the fan but its quieter than a normal fan would be. I like that it's not the type that spreads particles that get on everything making everything look dirty with waterspots.

HCM-750

My mom got this for her small apartment, and it works great.  Having a hard time finding filters at Target but can find them online, but they cost more.  It sounds like a very quiet babbling brook.  I like it too.  I don't get shocked when I'm at her place.  She's had it about a month and runs it night and day, nonstop.  Very easy to fill with water.  She just uses a pitcher.

Does the job

A little clunky for refilling the water but seems to do the job so far

HCM-750 humidifier

Very easy to fill. Visible fill level. Quiet, humming sound, does not disturb sleep at all.In large bedroom, brings humidity level up to approximately 65%, Relatively inexpensive and inconspicuous. Worth while, although expected to bring in more humidity.

Try lubricating the pump

I was able to run my HCM-750 for about 6 months before the pump started jamming (with a loud clack) and refusing to pump water.  If you turned the unit off and on, the water would run briefly, but then the pump would jam again.  I ran the pump dry a couple of times before this failure, so that may have worn the pump down and caused the failure.

I tried adding a thin metal washer inside the pump assembly, but with that it wouldn't spin at all.

What appears to be working now is that I've spread some candle wax around the inside of the pump assembly; on the inside of the plastic cap, on the impeller, and on the bearings.  The pump is now making less noise, and isn't jamming.  Teflon or silicone grease or spray might work as well; anything that lubricates but doesn't wash away.

(By "pump" I mean the assembly that contains a magnetic impeller wheel that is spun by the enclosed pump motor.)

Good White Noise, Hard to Keep Clean

We have had this humidifier for 6 months now.  We use it most nights in my 4 year old daughter's room.  The blue light is not a bother - it doubles as a night light.  The noise people are complaining about is mostly a white noise which is great in a kids room.  It helps lull her to sleep and block out external noise.  My major annoyance is that it is difficult to find filters in stores.  Today I happened upon them at my Target after looking for a few weeks at various stores.  Filters are about $10 each.  They recommend you change them every 1-2 months.

When taking the top off to change the filter I thought "Hey, let's open this thing up and wipe it down."   Man, that thing is gross inside!  The good news is that all of the parts come off and can be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher.  The bad news is that after all is said and done the cleaning process took at least 2 hours.  I'm thinking maybe our next humidifier will be a cheaper version that is simpler and easy to clean.  But, in the meantime ours is still going strong.  I just saw the anti-microbial accessory, so I think I'll try to track that down next.

Honeywell Cool Mist

We purchased the HCM-750 and run it all the time in the living room. The problem is that the motor is very noisy. We are not a fan of this humidifier, but our Walmart had no other choices.

OK

Worked great when it was working.  Pump went out after a couple months.

-
Loud

Very loud, not ultra quiet as stated. Rattles and vibrates and makes water splashing noises.

HCM-750

I am very disappointed with the HCM-750 which I purchased February 4, 2011 at the local K-mart store.

It was on clearance so I can not return it.  I have gone over and over the instructions but it will only pump

water thru for less than a minute, then it sounds as if the motor is running but no water moving thru.  I have

never added water to it as it doesn't pump.  I have taken the top off while it was running and all I see is

the water moving a little.  What do I do???  I haven't found a  phone number to get advise and I cannot afford

to purchase another.  Social Security you know.

Loud

It's very loud and it has a light on it when it runs, so you can't use it in your bedroom if you want darkness. Also, the new blue filters that they have don't last long at all - maybe a month. Theoretically, it costs you $100 a year in filter replacements for a $40 item. That doesn't count electricity used.

-
NOT for the bedroom

This unit should not be used in the bedroom if you like having a humidifier on at night. It is very loud and rattles. The most irritating thing on it is that it has a bright blue LED that lights up the level indicator. This will disturb your sleep. Whom ever designed this unit, Honeywell needs to have a talk with them about either not including a bright blue LED in it or they need to add a way to turn it off.

Disappointed

Recently bougt this unit at Walmart.  It is very noisy and puts out very little moisture.  I would return it but have used the filters and don't know if they would take it back.  Should have read reviews before buying.  Am now lookig for a new humidifier to replace it.

Too noisy

It is too noisy to run it at night. I can only use it at the day time to bring up the moisture level of my bedroom.

Water Pump failure after a couple of weeks

I've had it for 4 weeks now and the pump stops circulating water. Need to take and disassemble and reinstall. Sometimes thsi works on the first try sometimes not.
